Funding, directing, and implementing projects that demonstrate on-the-ground conservation that is science-driven and collaborative by design
HEADWATERS HERITAGE INITIATIVE
Headwaters: Small creeks at the uppermost end of a stream system, often found in the mountains, that contribute to larger creeks and rivers.
In much the same way that the headwaters of a stream system serve as the starting point for something that becomes much larger, the projects of the Headwaters Heritage Initiative test potential conservation solutions that may later have a much greater impact by becoming the foundation for state or national policies.
We also invest resources in a number of land and water conservation issues that arise in the Klamath-Siskiyou Ecoregion where our office is located and where our our staff are raising their children.
Through this initiative we fund, direct and implement projects that demonstrate on-the-ground conservation that is science-driven and collaborative by design.
Our Headwaters Heritage Initiative projects make a measurable difference to the ecological health of the lands and waters they are designed to restore using approaches that have the potential to scale up to impact regional and national policy.
