Headwaters Heritage Initiative

COMMUNITY EVENTS

In honor of its deep roots in the southern Oregon community, the National Center participates in several local events that celebrate the natural history and biodiversity of the region.

EARTH DAY - Each year we participate in the community-based Earth Day 2004 booth.jpgRogue Valley Earth Day celebration in Ashland.  Leading up to this annual event, and in partnership with local schools, we host an Earth Day Art Contest.  Winners are awarded in several age groups with the top work scheduled for display during the month of May at the Headwaters Gallery.

SALMON FEST - When the first Saturday in October rolls around, Rogue Valley residents know it's time to head to the annual Bear salmon fest 05.jpgCreek Salmon Festival to honor the salmon and steelhead that play such an important part in the region's ecological health and vitality.  In coordination with Salmon Fest, the National Center also hosts an October Art Exhibit at the Headwaters Gallery celebrating salmon.
