Curlleaf mountain-mahogany hybridizes with littleleaf mountain-mahogany and true mountain-mahogany (C. montanus) where distributions of the species overlap. Descriptions of hybrid traits and habitats are available.

 

General Distribution:

Curlleaf mountain-mahogany is the most widely distributed of the mountain-mahoganies (Cercocarpus spp.). It occurs from southeastern Washington south to southern California and Baja California, and east to south-central Montana and western Colorado. The southernmost population of curlleaf mountain-mahogany is in Sierra San Pedro Martir of Baja California. Curlleaf mountain-mahogany is widespread in Nevada, Utah, and Idaho. Populations of curlleaf mountain-mahogany in Arizona are only known from the Grand Canyon.
