Bringing science to the policy arena to craft effective ecologically credible policy solutions on a host of land and water issues

CONSERVATION POLICY INITIATIVE

MOUNTA~1.jpg

Bringing science to the policy arena is the focus of our Conservation Policy Initiative.  The National Center relies upon our real world on-the-ground experience and a topflight scientific foundation (built with the expertise of our well educated and informed staff, knowledge gained from focused research, and input from our National Science Advisory Board) to craft effective ecologically credible policy solutions on a host of land and water issues.

We advocate for thoughtful conservation policies that will be effective in protecting the life processes and ecological vitality that sustain our communities.  We do this by analyzing policy proposals from a conservation science perspective and making those analyses available to decision-makers, conservation organizations and the general public.  We also work actively to translate technical scientific material for decision-makers who are tasked with creating policies for complex conservation issues.
