President Ken Crocker formerly worked as a Senior Staff Computer Engineer for Intel, Corp where he worked with strategic product planning, product definition, Research & Development, and competitive analysis. He has five United States patents for product inventions developed while at Intel, Corp. Ken is now a professional photographer specializing in nature photography.
Vice President Matthew McKinnon is a teacher of government and political science at Ashland High School. A former attorney, Matthew is working to form a stronger connection between the National Center and local students as part of the on-the-ground efforts of our Headwaters Heritage Initiative.
Treasurer Janet Fergus is the financial partner of a local heating and air conditioning contracting business and also the owner/artist of Envision Ceramic Tile, a handcrafted ceramic tile studio. She has been a member of Nature Conservancy and Sierra Club for the past 20 years. Her desire to be more actively involved in conservation efforts in the Rogue Valley led her to serve on the board.
Secretary Susan Delles holds a degree in Biology from the University of New Mexico and has worked for the Botany Department at the University of California – Berkeley. Susan has extensive experience monitoring agency land management projects and mapping roadless areas.
Skip Andrew spent fourteen years working as a trial lawyer specializing in criminal defense civil rights cases in Chicago. Since his days as a trial lawyer, he has founded three businesses, including a national marketing consultant company as well as a new company specializing in nutritional supplements. He serves on the board of the International Alliance for Transforming the Lives of Children.
Barbara Argento-Spiller earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Berkeley in psychology and forestry/wildlife. She worked many seasons for the National and Redwood State Park systems. Before settling in the Rogue Valley, Barbara and her husband owned and operated a scenic yacht cruising business in the San Juan Islands. She previously served as the Administrator of the World Wildlife Fund's Klamath-Siskiyou Ecoregional Program and now is a real estate professional.
George Badura served as a field soil scientist, 5 years with the Soil Conservation Service and 29 years with the Forest Service during which time he served as the program manager and team leader of two forest soil surveys. He has developed many site specific soil management prescriptions relating to both planned management and soil restoration. George currently owns a business that provides soil management services.
Chris Bratt has been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters for 40 years. He currently is a board member of The Applegate Partnership and founder of Thompson Creek Residents for Ecological Education (TREE).
JoAnne Eggers is an elected member of the City of Ashland Parks Commission. In addition, she is active on the Ashland Forest Lands Commission, Ashland Watershed Stewardship Alliance, and the Ashland Watershed Partnership.
Jim Ince is a long-time advocate for the forests and waterways of the Rogue and Umpqua river systems. Prior to settling in Oregon, Jim traveled extensively and lived in various countries in Europe and Asia. Multilingual in European and Asian languages, he founded and operated a free medical clinic for Tibetan refugees in Nepal with the help of various international relief agencies. Jim has two children, both in college and operates two small businesses from his ranch in Douglas County, Oregon. He is the founder, and current board member, of Umpqua Watersheds, Inc.
Dave Perry, Ph.D. is Professor (emeritus) of Ecosystem Studies and Ecosystem Management with the Dept. of Forest Science at Oregon State University. Dr. Perry has authored more than 100 publications on various aspects of structure and function in forest ecosystems. He authored the textbook, Forest Ecosystems, and was lead editor of the book, Maintaining Long-term Productivity of Pacific Northwest Forest Ecosystems. He serves on the National Commission for the Science of Sustainable Forestry and the Board of Directors of Na Huapala O Hawai’i, a nonprofit aimed at restoring and perpetuating native Hawaiian values.
Judd Pindell is a small businessman born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. As one of two owners of the Mind's Eye Juicebar & Pyramid Juice Company and a member of the Ashland business community, Judd has long been very supportive of the conservation efforts of many organizations.
